Review of The Visit (2015) by Lumberjack N — 21 Apr 2017
I watched this in 2017 after a recommendation online, watching part of the trailer. This is good, clean horrific fun. It's funny, the kids are interesting and well thought out characters, and the surprises are reminisicent of real, scary situations that people actually face; creepy hide and seek, hearing strange noises in a new house, mental illness, etc.
It's a good balance between scary, amusing, and imagery that is haunting, cringy, hand holding worthy. I'm really disappointed that most of the reviewers seemed to be hung up on M. Night Shyamalan; No this is not the Sixth Sense, obviously.
But careers, creativity and objectives in material shift over time. I will definitely recomend this, and plan on watching it again to scare my boyfriend.
