Review of The Visit (2015) by Josh H — 05 Aug 2017
The director that everyone loves to hate. I'll admit, I like more of his movies than most people do (I like Unbreakable, Signs was one good ending away from being really good and I thought The Village was good as long as you're not actively trying to "figure it out") .
.. but he's had a bad run of stinkers (Lady in the Water, The Happening, Airbender, After Earth). So I was super skeptical coming into this one and I have to admit he kept it pretty basic and I thought it was pretty good for what it is.
Maybe this is what a writer/director needs is to just get back to the basics to get his groove back? Plenty of jump scares and creepy moments and, of course, a little twist that worked pretty well. Here's hoping MNS gets his groove back now.
