Review of The Virginity Hit (2010) by Kyle J — 19 Jan 2011
This film seems to receive a lot of flack, and I;m not entirely sure why. It is most definitely a mockumentary, and in that respect is sort of refreshing, as it does have a realistic feel. This is something hard to do on a regular basis, but even harder when you're talking about teenagers. I think the best thing accomplished here is the way these kids talk and relate to one another. Honestly, the camaraderie is spot on.
I think they found themselves an impressive group of young people who are able to really expose themselves for the benefit of the project. It does have it's pitfalls.
It's not as funny as I'd hoped it to be, but then, neither is real life. There is a fair bit of contrast here with some seriously shitty aspects to the main characters life, but all in all, I did enjoy it and would recommend it to fans of the genre. Or fans of Teen sex comedies.
