Review of The Virginity Hit (2010) by H_Dee2907 H — 26 Sep 2010
Perhaps Adam Mackay and Will Ferrell should have sent this one straight to the dvd shelves instead of placing it in theatres, because I imagine it would work much better as a movie you could watch on your tv with your stoner buddies than even a throwaway date flick.
The gags in this one miss alot more than they hit, there are maybe a couple of laugh out loud moments, but the majority of the humour is pretty mean-spirited and the film itself takes a long time to really warm up, when it finally does it's ok for a little while, thanks in part to the likeability of the main character, Matt.
His awkwardness and shy nature make him very sympathetic, which unfortunately also makes those other scenes seem to mean-spirited. not to mention pretty much every other character in this film being so damn unlikeable, I can definitely appreciate the way the film conveyed how youtube has changed the way we react and interact with each other these days and how it has changed the face of modern media, but with all those misses, they sure do miss out on a great opportunity to really make a memorable film.
