Is it dark? Yes. Is it delightful to look at? Absolutely. Is it worth watching? Definitely. Does it do justice to its story? No. Ultimately, The Virgin Suicides is more intriguing than emotional, and that's what drags it down.
That doesn't mean you'll regret seeing it, though.
