Review of The Virgin Suicides (2000) by Stefan Florin V — 16 Jan 2018
The Virgin Suicide shows the brutal reality of suicide in our days. How parents can make kids so desperate that the only way of escaping from their perspective is death and how being unable to get help there's no one to stop this horrific acts from happening.
The movie screams the early 2000's by the way it's filmed to the way the colors are over saturated. Even if the director addresses the suicidal matter very well the movie lacks some seriously character development and reasoning SPOILER (it is not explained not even teased why the little girl in the beginning committed suicide) .
We understand the action of the girls , but there are not enough moments where we can relate to the characters. Other than Kirsten Dunst portrayal of Lux the acting falls flat (for the most parts). However some bright spots are enough to save this movie and is an enjoyable watch.
