Review of The Virgin Suicides (2000) by Ferdi A — 28 Jan 2015
Beautiful, poignant and fascinating directorial debut of Sofia Coppola which benefits from some standout performances by Kirsten Dunst, Kathleen Turner and James Woods and mesmerizing cinematography. Add to the perfect styling, a great adapted script, a nice soundtrack and colorful characters and you got one of the best dramas I've ever seen in my life.
Very upsetting and depressing ending though and the timelapse isn't always that great. Still some beautiful camerawork by Sofia Coppola as she delivers a brutally honest portrait of teenangst and manages to leave the viewer impressed yet emotional.
