Review of The Virgin Spring (1960) by Mathieu C — 26 Jun 2007
Easily one of Bergman's greatest films. This film takes us from a fairy tale family where a jealous adopted sister must accompany the real daughter of the family to bring candles to the church. Along the way a horrible envent happens which shatters the comfortable place that the family was in.
In the end, the family is left wondering how God fits in to all this, but redemption is possible only by moving ahead.
