Review of The Virgin Spring (1960) by Christopher M — 02 Dec 2007
In the day and age when people flock to Blockbuster to find the recently released "unrated" versions of movies (because they think more gore, sex and violence = better), it's refreshing to watch a true masterpiece such as this.
Bergman creates one of the most beautiful and disturbing films ever with something that would equal a PG rating. Again, Bergman takes a classic theme (revenge, this time) and uses it as a vehicle to explore the human condition and ask a few of those "big questions".
Genius.
