Review of The Virgin Spring (1960) by Timothy F — 13 Jul 2008
Good film overall as an "Art" movie. Very nice cinematography and the film is abundant with pagan/Christian symbolism, as well as references to Little Red Riding Hood. Its a good film to study but not something you would ever want to see on a Friday night.
I can see why director Chan-Woo Park considers Bergman to be one of his favorite directors, as the way Park composes his shots is very similar to the way Bergman does.
Its also interesting that Wes Craven's debut "Last House on the Left" is a remake of this movie.
