Review of The Virgin Spring (1960) by Wut S — 23 Dec 2008
Don't be intimidated by Bergman films. Although they are full of symbolism and complex themes, they are also very accessible and downright entertaining. The Virgin Spring is beautiful to look at. It is also very shocking.
One scene in particular is frighteningly realistic, brutal and quite graphic by 1960s standards. Beauty, darkness, God and vengeance. Fantastic movie!
