Review of The Virgin Queen (1955) by Denise H — 23 Oct 2009
Bette Davis as Queen Elizabeth (her 2nd movie about the queen). She was superb and very convincing. The queen has a dramatic and tense argument with Walter Raleigh during a session in her council chambers.
Raleigh walks out on her and all hell breaks loose. Joan Collins was supposed to be a bold and determined lady-in-waiting of the queen (out to stake a claim on Raleigh) but I wasn't impressed. Of course this was made in 1955 so maybe it was quite daring and seductive at the time?
