Review of The Village (2004) by Avery C — 29 Jul 2011
Well worth watching. This movie is immensely clever in its treatise on the subject of 'you need look no further than Mankind itself to find unspeakable horror'. And I thought the final "fight" scene in the woods, and how the audience is brought back around to thinking these things are REAL, was clever too.
The scene jumps are kinda odd, kinda stage play-ish, but this movie has some good moments and the acting is very real, down-to-earth, rather like real people; and that helps us to connect with the situation - would we go live in a commune to escape it all if we had the chance? Yes, yes we would.
