This film was probably the turning point in director Shyamalan's career, and after this nonsensical thriller we started to realize his talent may not be as remarkable as we thought. The Village is a wasted opportunity.

A fairly big one. A movie that is built on ludicrous and preposterous setting that it is rationally (or humanly) impossible to believe; the characters are way below one-dimensional and you don't get any sense of vitality in any of these people.

And since this is a Shyamalan film, there is a big "shocking" twist at the end, but by the time you'll get to that point you will probably be: 1) stopped watching this twaddle or 2) bored to death and don't care about what happens.

It is short on thrills and horror, and I don't even know what this movie is about. Is it about the notion of fear? or innocence? or just the lives of people who live in a community? What is it, Shyamalan!? Tell me what this freaking movie is about!!
