Review of The Verdict (1982) by Adam Z — 22 Nov 2008
It would be a real treat if Sidney Lumet and David Mamet got to work together again. Lumet's extraordinary ability to carry his films along at a brisk and safe pace, and Mamet's talent for modern prose, both combine to form a marvel: one of the best American films of the past thirty years.
Also my favorite Paul Newman performance. Of course, James Mason and Jack Warden are dynamite as well.
