Review of The Verdict (1982) by Kim B — 09 Aug 2015
Kind of like a long episode of law and order but better. If you like crime shows this is a good one for you. Follows the story of a washed-up down on his luck lawyer who has forgotten why he got into the profession.
Luckily for him a loyal friend who hasn't given up on him throws him a case that is supposed to be a sure thing. However after he meets with his client his conscience tells him he must bring this case to trial despite the family wishes and the hard case and losing track record.
Also I believe he sees it as a case to bring back some success for his career. However the movie has a lot of twists and turns both in and out of the courtroom and he finds this case to be harder but also more rewarding than he first thought.
The ending is bittersweet with him surprisingly winning the case and getting his dignity and career back but apparently choosing to not forgive the woman he was seeing for betraying him.
