Review of The Verdict (1982) by Cory B — 14 Dec 2008
In MY top twenty, for sure. Paul Newman is a delight to watch. He adds so much to any role he graces. Though not as thorough and consistent as Scorsese, Kubrick or Coppola, Lumet is easily makes more important and hard-hitting films, from this, to Network, to 12 Angry Men, to even to his new stuff, like 'Before.
..Dead.' It's also written by David Mamet, so I was surprised I liked it. Just a deeply affecting courtroom that covers more bases than you think it would.
