Review of The Verdict (1982) by Zack F — 05 Feb 2013
The case at the center of the verdict was an interesting underdog story, but many "major" plot points were so rushed and assumed that they didn't add anything to the story. Paul Newman was an alcoholic that couldn't get himself together for a case, but all of a sudden alcohol was no longer a problem to him or his case.
The rushed romance between Newman and Rampling was forced and never stated to what fullness they were as a pair, but all of a sudden she was there all the time, as well as the focus plot point for the last scene of the film.
The Verdict should of either gave more focus on the points it wanted to include, or put full focus on the case, the one plot point that kept the viewer caring.
