Review of The Veil (2016) by Dann M — 22 Sep 2016
I had read all the horrible reviews and expected something really bad but I went in anyway just for a chance to see Lily Rabe in the lead. I was surprised as first that it was ok, and even more that it never veered onto bad.
There is inconsistencies but as a whole, it holds. The color palette is morbid and the atmosphere damp and heavy, the story is somehow propulsive even while its tense and slow paced, if thats possible.
The only trouble is, the whole dead then coming back thing is badly explained to the point it makes no sense. How useful is a host body if you kill it and the bodies just pile up. But you can also give up on making sense of the last 20 minutes which are kind of rushed and then its just good creepy fun.
