Cowboys vs. Dinosaurs is a cooler concept than any other movie. Period. But a cool concept does not mean it's a cool movie.
The animation is nice but the dinos are all purple, and sometimes grey, as if Ray Harryhausen's usually perfect modelling skills were rushed on this one. It has a few good scenes which Steven Spielberg must have seen before doing Jurassic Park, but underneath its goodness it's just a bad movie. Stock characters, bad dialogue and a terrible leading lady. Still, it might be good to watch on a Saturday afternoon.
