Review of The Valachi Papers (1972) by Kevin R — 15 Aug 2012
In 1923, Joe Valachi (Charles Bronson) serves a minor prison sentence. Forty years later, he appears on television to lay bare the operations of the Mafia. Follow Valachi's illustrious career with the mob, a career that takes him into the Cosa Nostra, a group so secret even the FBI have never heard of it. Finally we see Valachi operating a national crime network from his prison cell when the Mafia signals his end, by the famous KISS OF DEATH. Valachi squeals for his life, and the result is a compulsive story.
Also stars Lino Ventura, Jill Ireland, Joseph Wiseman, Walter Chiari, Amedeo Nazzari, Maria Baxa, Frank Gio and Angelo Infanti.
Directed by Terence Young.
