Review of The U.S. vs. John Lennon (2006) by Dan S — 22 Jun 2007
A one-sided but interesting and nicely put-together depiction of John Lennon's fight for peace during the Vietnam war, and his struggle against the American government because of his liberal, left-wing stance and anti-establishment views.
However, it's another film about John Lennon that, while featuring some excellent footage of the man himself, and many of his songs post-The Beatles, could have been strum to any tune. For example, there's a hundred John lennon documentaries and 'takes' on his life that could or have been made - Did Yoko Ono break-up The Beatles, John Lennon's post-Beatles music career, the death of John Lennon, Yoko Ono's influence on Lennon.
.etc, etc., and The US V John Lennon is just another version of his life. Yet, it's nicely told and makes for very interesting viewing.
