Review of The U.S. vs. John Lennon (2006) by Jason B — 31 Jul 2007
Many years after his death, his lyrics and message still resonate in our hearts.
US vs JL is a great documentary that depicts John and Yoko's efforts to change the world and fight the machine a la Gandhi. The crazy thing is that everything they were fighting for and punished for, is still as relevant today if not even more so, than then. Besides being well documented and giving you an inside look to their family life and political crusades, it evokes much emotion. For me particularly, a sense of nostalgia. This nostalgia is in a general form, where I reminisce of the days when people actually got together in the name of an idea and changed things.
I think that loosing Lennon was a tremendous loss in the fight for peace and freedom.
I recommend this to everyone regardless of how familiar they are with his work.
"Come on everybody, Give peace a chance".
