A Hall-of-Fame cast really delivers on this gangster story which blurs the line between drama and shoot-em-up. Sean Connery's Oscar winning performance is the wise center of the wild ride but DeNiro keeps up with him with his embodiment of the ruthless Capone.
The movie falls just short of classic since it ultimately has too many loose cogs (why do bad guys shoot so bad even with Tommy guns?) but it's a fantastic tale that makes you glad they repealed Prohibition.
