If I had been watching this by myself I probably would have turned it off in the first 15 minutes. But it grew on me over time (well it had 160+ mins to do it!) and actually had some lovely moments. Juliette Binoche is glorious, but Daniel Day-Lewis never really ripped my nightie, and his character is an arse but what the hey- they loved that stuff in the 80's.
