Review of The Unbearable Lightness of Being (1988) by Janin W — 19 Aug 2008
It has one of the most pretensious titles in movie history. But when it gets to the meaning of the title the movie resounds quietly on a level that not many have. This flick also has the wonderful fortune of capturing Daniel Day Lewis and Lena Olin in their mid-thirties and Juliette Binoche in her late 20's (i'm guessing but still .
.. ahem... Exclamation Point!) all of which means Sexy with a double x spelled Sexxy so sexy I had to write "sexy" thrice and misspell it once. Binoche is at just the age to pull off a woman from ages 23 to 33 that actually grows up - on screen.
I mean here's a movie where the three main characters actually grow wiser as the movie progresses. They actually mature in wisdom. It makes the head think about the heart.
