Review of The Unbearable Lightness of Being (1988) by Sancar S — 24 Sep 2012
Wanted to love it but didn't, it is missing a certain 'something' from the characters. And yet, the actors really give it (and bare it) all, it's shot by Sven Nykvist, scripted and directed by Philip Kaufman, and edited by Walter Murch.
The pedigree is so high that it's never less than watchable, and when it weaves politics into the mix it's genuinely exciting on almost intellectual grounds.
