Review of The Umbrellas of Cherbourg (1964) by Alister N — 06 Jun 2007
This French film will be remembered most obviously for its dialogue that is entirely sung, but not in a musical sense of utopian ideal song and dance, but rather a tragic operetta style. Catherine Deneuve is gorgeous in her screen debut and the music poignant, an intelligent experiment.
