Review of The Umbrellas of Cherbourg (1964) by Alex W — 18 Nov 2008
An interesting generic experiment, with some fab actors, and colours as dazzling as anything in a Powell/Pressburger or a Sirk. Ultimately however the film's sheer obnoxiousness somewhat overshadows its merits.
Repeated viewing would make a more effective form of torture than waterboarding.
