Review of The Ultimate Gift (2007) by Jean V — 13 Apr 2009
Manipulative, predictable, cliched, implausible, formulaic, and sentimental. Drew Fuller and Abigail Breslin are awful. Breslin plays the cliched wiser-than-her-years (terminally ill!) little girl, and Drew Fuller has no personality and lacks leading man range. Ali Hillis, Brian Dennehy, Bill Cobbs, and James Garner are okay. The scenes feel superficial and low-budget, like a Hallmark made-for-TV movie. It has its moments of humor and emotion, to be sure, and it's got a good message. I'm still waiting for a good Christian film.
3.5/10.
