Review of The Two Jakes (1990) by Brett B — 13 Aug 2009
A well-made, entertaining film with a phenomenal cast, this is usually considered a "bad" movie because it doesn't live up to its predecessor, CHINATOWN; while it does pale in comparison to that masterpiece, I find this effort from director Nicholson and screenwriter Towne to be very worthy of revisiting.
And even if the film as a whole doesn't work for you, I think it's unquestionable that Nicholson's Jake Gittes remains a very compelling character.
