Review of The Tuskegee Airmen (1995) by Joel K — 08 Feb 2004
Not one of the greatest works or cinematic art (not.
another Eisenstein's Potemkin...), but a very well done.
movie, about an important topic. Honest portrayal.
Engrossing....
The "high point" is probably where a racist southern.
white bomber pilot whose plane had previously.
been saved from German fighters by 2 Tuskegee.
airmen, finally accepts that negroes could actually.
have downed the Germans. On being told that.
his next mission is to bomb Berlin and that a squadron.
of white fighter pilots would be protecting him,.
the racist pilot stands up to his commanding.
officer, and he says he is responsible.
for the safety of his crew, and therefore hs *requests*.
the Tuskegee airmen escort him instead of the white pilots.
