Review of The Turin Horse (2011) by Panagiotis T — 25 Jul 2012
The kind of film that makes most other films seem pointless. Tarr has crafted a tedious, unrelenting, and personal work that makes the viewer reevaluate their views on what a film can be. This is Tarr's final film, and although that is sad, he sure went out with a bang.
Never has a director had such an uncompromising vision and approach to filmmaking. His name belongs alongside the greats: Tarkovsky, Fellini, Bergman, Kieslowski, etc. This film is an enduring cinema masterpiece that bookmarks the end of the career of one of the greatest filmmakers of all time.
It is almost a certainty that this will be near, or at, the top of my list at the end of the decade.
