Review:

I didn't really see the point of this movie, because there wasn't a moral to the story, except for "greed doesn't pay" but apart from that I didn't find watching two corrupt Las Vegas cops, drilling through walls, that entertaining. Nicolas Cage (Jim Stone) seemed like a straight laced cop at the beginning of the film, who was investigating a drug dealers bail sheet, which looked weird because he was able to pay his £200,000 bail with cash, so he turns to his laid back, weed smoking partner, David (Elijah Wood) to find out were the cash was coming from. Whilst following the culprit, they come across a big safe underneath an apartment building, so they take it upon themselves to break in, to uncover what the drug dealer is hiding. The movie starts off fast paced, with a witty script but once they get into the unusual, and quite spooky house, it slows down, and questions about Jim's morals start to arise. The ending was also a big weird, because you don't get to see an outcome of there actions, so it seemed slightly, a waste of time. The acting wasn't bad from Wood and Cage and the chemistry seemed pretty real but the ending let the movie down. In terms of entertainment, I did find the plot quite intriguing at the beginning, and the difference between the two cops worked quite well but the script needed some work towards the end. Average!

Round-Up:

Nicolas Cage, 52, hasn't showed any signs of slowing down, even though his movies haven't been smashing the box office lately, and with 4 movies due to be released early next year, which include, the violent Dog Eat Dog, Snowden, Army Of One and USS Indianapolis: Men Of Courage, the question is, will he ever return to A-list status. Anyway, this movie was directed by Alex & Benjamin Brewer, who also brought you Dum Dum Girls: Are You Okay and Beneath Contempt, which I haven't heard of. Basically, this movie was the first mainstream project from the brothers, and they done a decent job with this, somewhat, black comedy but the transition of Cages character, was a bit drastic and weird. Its still a watchable movie, in terms of entertainment but I honestly don't think that the whole heist side of the film, was thoroughly thought through.

Budget: $9million.

Worldwide Gross: N/A.

I recommend this movie to people who are into their crime/drama/thrillers, starring Nicolas Cage, Elijah Wood, Sky Ferreira, Jerry Lewis, Eric Heister, Alexandria Lee and Ethan Suplee. 4/10.
