Review of The Truman Show (1998) by Jacob B — 27 Aug 2016
The Truman Show is definitely one of the best films I've ever seen, it's just absolutely flawless in every aspect. The movie is a criticism of society, but it also doubles as a wonderful entertainment piece - not to mention quite funny.
Jim Carrey's performance is perfect, he really deserved the Golden Globe; and the fact that he wasn't nominated for an Oscar is a disgrace. I also love the way that Peter Weir directed this film, he perfectly balanced all the elements and how he handled the story; Weir has made some great pictures, but this really is his masterpiece.
It's thought-provoking and has a very interesting and original premise, and an amazing screenplay. Also editing, dialog, pacing, etc - it all takes top honors.
