Review of The Truman Show (1998) by Electro P — 08 Mar 2013
Original, imaginative and full of moral questioning, I can guarantee its not likely you will see another film like this. Anyone can commend it for its creativity, and its amazing at how interesting it is to watch from start to finish. part of its brilliance is that you as the viewer begin to question your own morals and notice the links to your own life. its certainly eye opening to watch the pain, confusion and struggle of someone living in unknown public scrutiny, and frightening to see how the gradual discovery of this can detereorate a person.
I like how it is made so the viewer knows what is the truth, as it makes them feel like they are in on the secret and are as guilty of watching like everybody else. it is all portrayed in a slightly light hearted manner as to be of some relief from the most chilling part ; how simple it is to draw parallels to today. it is a film with purpose, which is to be sure to leave anyone thinking.
