When a movie can't decide on whether its intended audience should be adult or teen, it isn't exactly starting off well. It tries to mix teenage angst with some very adult concepts/themes and doesn't convicingly pull off either.
The forced love story is kinda creepy if you really think about it - a high school student who gets involved involved with a Ph.D. candidate 9 years his senior. There are some cutsy moments, but not enough to save this mess of a film.
