Review of The Triplets of Belleville (2003) by Mloy X — 22 May 2011
The animation is uniquely styalized, much in the way of "Steam Boat Willie" era cartoons and yet the plot is far more complex but utterly compelling and heart-warming, it totally won me over.
There is very little dialogue, much of the film is told through clever pantomime and music.... très avant-garde! All the characters are well developed, each with their own distinctive traits and quirks-- I especially loved Souza and Bruno, infact this film should have been titled "Souza and Bruno".
Throughly enjoyable, but you must have a lot of patience since the pacing is rather slow, but well worth the wait!
