Review of The Trip to Italy (2014) by Beachlover — 22 Sep 2014
If it were not for the lovely "occasional" views of Italy, and the 30-second shots of the food, I would have walked out of this movie. It could have been an exquisite movie, but the over-winded silliness of the characters and the constant ad-libbing with no logical conversation at all, absolutely no story-line, made this movie a disaster.
I could have predicted the disaster when the opening scene was nothing but 15 minutes of their jibberish. I have never wanted the main characters in any movie to just be quiet - but this one, I just wanted them to shut-up, show more scenes of the food and of Italy.
I mean, the title is "A Trip to Italy" not "A Roadtrip with Idiots." It was misleading, as well as the trailer, and I will be very reluctant to ever watch a movie directed by Winterbottom again.
How sad, with the location and food storyline, it should have, and could have, been a wonderful movie. I rate this movie a Zero.
