Now we're talking serious. The film that is certainly not for everyone, as every review out there is saying, but certainly the one that will be appreciated more as the time goes by, like the case was with Kubrick's 2001: Space Odyssey.

The comparisons to this masterpiece are inevitable. The fact that it's more abstract and artsy is sadly the reason it probably won't get the big award, but I'm surprised it even got this far.

Also nominated for Best Director is Terrence Malick, who I hope gets the Oscar, but the film should certainly take home an award for Best Cinematography. Come on! It absolutely gorgeous and breathtaking, and not only the abstract parts.

The camera simply flows and glides beautifully through time and space. What is the film about? Life - of a Texas family in the 50s, on the micro level, and the life and evolution of Universe on the macro-est of all the macro levels.

Also - questioning of faith and the existence of God, through loss. There is a very close interpretation to mine here, so if you are into further reading on this one - click, and from all my heart I recommend - watch away.
