Review of The Tree of Life (2011) by Ray K — 11 Mar 2013
The story set in the 1950s in a Midwestern town. It follows the journey of the eldest son Jack O'Brien who is having a complicated relationship with his father played by Brad Pitt. (I just want to point out that both his parents don't have first names so they are just called Mr and Mrs O'Brien.
) Then it focuses on an adult Jack played by Sean Penn finds himself lost in the modern world and seeking answers to the origins and meaning of life. It sound like a generic family-incident story. But so many critics seem to like this film while the rest were just so bored out and it's true.
It really was that boring. It took me several attempts to finally finish watching this movie and then actually like it and now I can only remember just a few scenes from the movie and that is it. But other than that, overall, this movie had a great sense of drama and it did it well.
The Tree Of Life gets a somewhat 8/10.
