The culmination of everything, thematically and visually, Malick has been doing since 'Days of Heaven.' Rich, absorbing, elegant, real . . . some of the scenes are so evocative of childhood that you are transported back to those times.
. . . 'Tree of Life' gives us an eternity in memory, with Jessica Chastain and Brad Pitt serving as the twin pillars on how to gain them -- one through grace, one through nature. This film, if you surrender to it, sweeps over you like a recollection of a warm summer eve.
