A director who thinks an ordinary coming-of-age story warrants interstellar imagery is a pompous one. For all it's splendid and lustrous visuals, Mallick's '2001: A Space Odyssey' is a poem with broken promises.
A stunning work of art lacking the real depth to justify it. An extremely pretty disappointment. 6/10.
