Review of The Tree of Life (2011) by Brad S — 26 Jul 2015
- 4th time seeing this masterpiece. One of the most beautiful films ever in my opinion. It isn't for everyone as it isn't your typical linear storyline, but it's hard to deny the beauty of the film. Highly recommended.
- Watched for the 3rd time. This one is pretty amazing. The cinematography is stunning. The story is deep, and also non-linear and certainly won't appear to everyone, but if you like cinema and have an open mind...give it a try!
- Just watched this for the 2nd time. It really is a special movie, but is definitely not for everyone. One thing I must say is that it played better on the big screen where I was completely overwhelmed at times by the visuals and the music. The movie is challenging, examining the meaning of life and God and is told in a non-linear fashion, but I liked that it was challenging and original. You just have to let the images and music take you away and bring your own meanings to the proceedings. Check it out!
- This is an amazing film, but you really have to give in and be receptive to it. Visually it is among the most beautiful films I have ever scene, certain scenes ARE the most beautiful I have seen committed to film. It is not a typical and linear story and it's better if you know that going in, and the film goes at its own pace. It is a challenging, yet also rewarding piece of work that will likely get better with repeated viewings. The performances are decent, and I would go so far as to say Pitt is really good. This one is a MUST for any serious films buffs!
