Review of The Tree (2010) by Phil N — 29 Jul 2011
When her father Peter dies unexpectedly, eight year old Simone believes his spirit resides within the huge tree beside their house. This Australian drama is a tender (but unsentimental) portrayal of death and how one family copes after the death of a loved one.
A rewarding change of pace from the usual Summer blockbusters The Tree benefits from believable performances from its cast, especially Charlotte Gainsbourg as the widowed Mum of the family.
