Review of The Treasure of the Sierra Madre (1948) by Mark W — 31 Dec 2010
The last half star in this rating is me cutting the movie a little slack for being 62 years old. The acting is a little forced and theatrical at times and the dialogue sometimes seems a bit corny. But this film would get the other 4.
5 stars at any time. What a classic study in psychology. I don't think I have seen any film make better use of lighting to enhance the message, unless it was perhaps directed by Hitchcock. CGI? We ain't got no CGI.
We don't need no CGI. I don't have to show you any stinking CGI. As an added bonus I now know the inspiration for Stinky Pete the Prospector in Toy Story 2. Oh.... and Bogart actually acts in this film.
