Review of The Treasure of the Sierra Madre (1948) by Michael C — 01 Dec 2011
A great and continuously copied tale of greed and paranoia in Mexico. Bogart is very good as the protagonist who becomes increasingly mad as the film progresses that those around him are attempting to squander his hard-earned Gold fortune, and Walter Huston is terrific as the old man who guides them and is the one voice of reason among them.
Tons has been copied from this film, from the general premise to the classic "we don't need no stinkin badges" line, to the image of two paranoid men, slowly trying not to drift off as they watch each other with suspicion.
