Review of The Treasure of the Sierra Madre (1948) by Tom H — 04 Dec 2012
Thoroughly entertaining and suspenseful. John Huston's direction becomes nightmarish and magnetic as we follow Humphrey Bogart into his diseased obsession, greed, and paranoia over getting his share of the gold.
This film is quite gritty and dark for the era in which it was made and its rugged characters and setting show exactly why John Huston is the quintessential tough-guy American director. One of the greatest adventure movies ever made.
