Review of The Treasure of the Sierra Madre (1948) by Rod S — 25 May 2011
The film begins in some swelteringly hot Mexican town where everything seems to move in slow motion, but things really get goinig when there is a mention of gold. Walter Huston's character, Howard, warned that gold could change a man; although you know that something will happen, seeing it actually happen is still startling.
I love this movie for the twists and turns that the story takes, and for it's three main characters - Dobbs, Curtin and Howard. It's also refreshing to see Humphrey Bogart in a role where he isn't some wise-cracking gangster or other.
Certainly a classic, and I highly recommend it!
