Review of The Treasure of San Gennaro (1966) by Mereie D — 11 Oct 2009
Light-hearted Italian gangster comedy (1966), starring Senta Berger, Mario Adorf, etc. For what it is, it's not too bad. The movie is full of predictable silliness, as is to be expected in this genre.
There's the greedy gangsters, the beautiful (and occasionally jealous) women, the good-for-nothing helpers, the Italian chaotic atmosphere, the falling out among thieves, the failing caper attempts, and the final success (well, perhaps not quite).
Senta Berger is always a pleasure to watch in 1960s movies, and she even adds an element of feminism to this production.
